Course Outline

This course provides an overview of the development, implementation, and maintenance of a balanced, platform-independent online learning program. Key topics include online learning models, attributes of the successful online student, the role and training of the online facilitator, effective online learning strategies, administration of online learning and change management.

This course elaborates on the unique role of the online facilitator in a highly interactive, fully online, learning program. Emphasis is placed on developing the online learning community, building the skills to effectively employ online learning strategies, managing the online class, implementing new curricula or modifying existing curricula.

Delivery Strategy

This is a facilitated, interactive online course delivered in an asynchronous learning environment. Participants login to their classes on a regular basis over the Internet, without regard to their physical location or time of day. Participants interact not only with the lecture materials, assignments and readings, but also with each other, through focused, facilitated discussions. Participants develop their own capabilities and talents using many information sources, including lectures, readings, life experiences, projects and group discussions.

The Facilitator aids the process by addressing participants' needs, interjecting their industry experience, and providing direction to create a unique learning experience for each participant.
