Embanet's Accessibility Statement

Accessibility

Embanet recognizes that there is a regulatory obligation to conform to US Federal Section 508 guidelines and to the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 1.0) Priority 3. Embanet has a further voluntary commitment to the spirit of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), in that every effort will be made to make Web documents as widely accessible as possible on a variety of differing user agents. The goal of accessibility is not to only conform to Federal and Commonwealth guidelines, but to guarantee access to information and services to every individual.

Access Keys

Most browsers support jumping to important links by typing special "access keys" defined by the site. For Windows, press ALT + an access key; then press ENTER. On Macintosh, press CONTROL + an access key.

Embanet provides the following access keys:

Other accessibility features

  1. All font sizes are specified with relative units for easy resizing.
    • By using your browser's text resizing feature under View > Text Size (Internet Explorer, Firefox & Netscape), the text can be made smaller or larger, as needed.
  2. Tab Index
    • This site implements a logical Tab order. By using your Tab Key you can navigate to all the various major points on the page. For faster keyboard navigation, use the Tab key in conjunction with the Access Keys and Semantic Markup
  3. Semantic Markup
    • All pages use structured semantic markup. For example on all pages, H1 tags are used for the Home Link in the top left corner, on the home page, H2 tags for the title in the quick information section, H3 tags for the Main headings in the News area, and on the interior pages, H2 tags for the Main heading in the content area, and H3 tags for the sub-topics within the content. JAWS users can skip to the main elements using ALT+INSERT+1 (H1 tags), ALT+INSERT+2 (H2 tags), and ALT+INSERT+3 (H3 tags).
  4. Link Titles
    • Any link on the Embanet site that does not behave 'normally'(All 'normal' links switch between pages within the site.), has a title tag associated with it. All titles start with one of the three options: Link New Window, Link Anchor, or Link Email, followed by a description of that hyperlink. Link New Window, sends the user to a new page in a popup window with the original page still open in the browser below, Link Anchor, sends the user to a specified anchor point within the current page and Link Email, calls the users' default mail client.

Alternate Styles

Alternate styles, which can be used in conjunction with standards-compliant browsers, have been included in this site. Users can determine which style works best for their situation. These styles provide users a choice between a fixed layout, optimized for a 1024 x 768 resolution, and a fluid layout, which allows the site to "flow", depending on the width of the browser. The fluid layout is ideal for users who need to customize the size of the text or users who are using a larger or small resolution.
